Here's how the class types differ and who each one is for.
Mat Work
The Pilates mat work is the foundation of the method. Learn the original classical concepts of the Pilates floor work. Designed to give you a total body workout without the distractions of equipment. Pilates mat work is the ultimate technique master class, allowing you to really focus on your core, spinal integrity and breathing patterns.
Reformer
Reformer work is equally fun and challenging. The Reformer is one of the most versatile pieces of exercise equipment ever designed. You can lie, sit, kneel or stand on the Reformer to execute the Pilates technique. Resistance, supplied by the springs, is the key to amplifying the benefits of Pilates on the Reformer. Contemporary additions of Dynamic Reformer add a cardio element to your workout.
Barre
It’s undeniable that dancers are incredibly strong, svelte individuals. The Barre technique fuses Pilates concepts with centuries old ballet techniques and modern day sports training, to produce one of this decades most popular workouts. Build tone and strength without building bulk.
Mum-life
Pilates is your best choice for pre and post-natal care. Whether you are newly pregnant or have recently delivered, the Pilates method can meet your individual needs and support you back to your pre-baby self. Philippa has extensive knowledge and a particular interest in pregnancy programs and will confidently modify your exercises for the demands of each trimester.
Seniors
Who wouldn’t want to be strong and stable in their senior years? Pilates is the ideal choice for the ‘mature’ adult. With many progressions and modifications, it’s incredibly safe and easily adapted to your individual needs and abilities. The focus on core stability helps to reduce the risk of falls and resistance work helps to increase bone density.
Kids Core
As a parent to 3 fast growing little humans, I understand the importance of supporting their bodies through change and growth spurts. A regular stretching and strengthening routine will help to prevent rapid growth related issues and stabilise them for the rigours of youth.
Studio Sessions
These are specialised classes focussing on the unique needs of every client. Although there are up to 5 people in the session, everyone works on their own personal program. Close supervision will ensure the progressions and modifications meet your individual needs each and every session.
Fusion
As the name suggests, this is a beautiful combination of mat, barre and small apparatus work. This combination class gives us limitless possibilities to stretch, strengthen and stabilise the body but don’t be fooled, it’s not for the faint hearted.
